How to Improve Your Dynamic Lighting for Macro Photography

Ideal for use as a small unit but even better used as one of up to eight flashes configured as a ring flash for small objects via the appropriate accessories, the VM-1010S TTL Macro Flash from Bolt has a guide number of 33 and a color temperature of 5500K. The head also has an LED modeling light with an accuracy rating of CRI90 that means that you can also use it for video. The VM-1010S has a built-in wireless receiver that operates on the 2.4 GHz wavelength and accepts signals from a VM-1020S transceiver to trigger it and vary the power at distances up to 328'. The VM-1010S has output that's variable from 1/128 to 1/1 in Manual Mode and ±3 stops in TTL. It runs on two separately-purchased AAA batteries and comes with two types of diffusers and a 9-filter color gel kit for creative expression.

Macro Ring Flash Use

Especially suited to close-up shots of small objects like flowers, watches, insects, birds, clothing textures, dishes, small photo, and video accessories, for example. The flash can slide around an optional ring for the correct positioning. In fact, you can mount up to eight macro flashes and adjust their angles from -45 to 60 degrees.

High-Speed Sync Mode

The flash is compatible with high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second to lower background brightness or to shoot at wide apertures for maximum bokeh.

Optional Transceiver and Wireless Triggering

The VM-1010S is compatible with a VM-1020S transceiver that allows you to trigger the Macro Flash and adjust its power wirelessly.

Sleep Mode

Sleep Mode powers the unit down after inactivity to save battery power.

LED Focus Assist/Flash Test

Fire the Macro Flash or several of them at the same time with one button to verify that your flashes are working properly. You can also use the LEDs as modeling lights to preview the lighting from the VM-1010S flash.

Includes Diffuser and Color Gels

The flash is supplied with two diffusers (1 soft and 1 standard) to soften the light in situations when harsh shadows are not desired. Nine color gels provide options to match existing lighting or experiment and create your unique look. Optional diffusers and Color Gels are available to soften the output and add creative touches to work.
