Really Right Stuff TH-DVTL-40 Overview
The TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate from Really Right Stuff is a 2.1" diameter round plate that allows a tripod head to be mounted to most Arca-type compatible clamps. The contour of the round dovetail plate matches the base of either a ball head or gimbal head, outfitting the head with an Arca-type rail on the base. This allows the head to mount to a leveling base or other device with a compatible clamp in order to quickly change tripod heads when working with different disciplines. Made of durable CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type-II black anodized finish, the TH-DVTL-40 accepts any round tripod head base whose diameter does not exceed 2".

Perfect Fit for RRS Ptoducts
I used this on the base of my RRS compact planning clamp. It was a perfect fit for attaching this planning clamp to any Acra Swiss style clamp.

I purchased this dovetail to use on my Wimberly Wh-200. I can now easily and quickly move the gimbal from a RRS clamp on my tripod to a RRS clamp on my monopod.
Perfect fit!
Perfect fit for my Jobu Design Gimbal head. Makes switching between ballhead, or gimbal head as easy as moving a lever back and forth with my lever clamp.
For my Gimbal Head
Mounted to the base of my Wimberley Gimbal and now I can use my Arca Swiss Ball head for levelling and quickly mount / unmount the larger Gimbal safely onto the Ball head / tripod. Greatly increase the safety of not dropping expensive camera gear with a very inexpensive accessory plate.
Dovetail happy
Perfect for my Jobu Jr. 3 gimbal head & RRS 60mm lever clamp. I have one for my ball head as well.
3/8-16 anchor bolt is not the correct size
I think got a bad batch of 3/8"-16 screws from RRS. I bought two of these, and both would have stripped the Dovetail plate and my nice Gimbal head if I would have tried to use them. I went to the hardware store and found a 3/8"-16 bolt to see if that would fit the Dovetail plate and it fit flawlessly. I couldn't use it because the bolt head did not fit into the plate, the plate is countersunk. I checked the size of the RRS screw with a screw thread gauge. The closest fit was 10mm, not 3/8"-16. I will try to get replacement screws from RRS otherwise I will have to return these. They are unusable.
Please Don't Strip
I didn't break out the micrometer but the supplied 3/8-16 screw is definitely larger than indicated and beyond any acceptable tolerance. Had I torqued this down it would very well have ruined my brand new, extremely expensive tripod head. Not good RSS!
