BIGSBY Pedal Jam Nr.1 | Gamechanger Audio | Rudolfs Ozols
BIGSBY Pedal Features Overview | Part 1 | Gamechanger Audio
The BIGSBY Pedal story | Gamechanger Audio

Experience the unique sound of a legendary tremolo while freeing up your hands with the BIGSBY Pedal from Gamechanger Audio, a polyphonic pitch-shifting pedal. Developed in collaboration with Fender Musical Instruments Co., the BIGSBY let's you engage in seamless pitch bending with any instrument while maintaining natural timbre and tone.

With its spring-loaded rocker pedal and powerful SHARC signal processor, the BIGSBY pedal tracks your signal in real time and allows you to produce the unmistakable twang and nuance of the classic Bigsby tremolo arm while leaving your hands free to play any kind of licks or techniques you can come up with. The pedal features numerous controls for fine-tuning your bending, including dynamically LED-lit Rate, Blend, and Depth wheels, a switch for inverting the shifting direction, and full MIDI CC and PC control. A dedicated 1/4" TRS jack lets you either control BIGSBY with an external footswitch, or use the BIGSBY pedal as spring-loaded expression pedal, either in conjunction with or separately from the pitch-shifting output.

A Legendary Design
The idea to create a BIGSBY-style pitch-shifting pedal was born out of a long-standing admiration for the BIGSBY systems unique feel, sound, and design. This classic tremolo arm system was first introduced by Paul Bigsby in 1951, and the spring-loaded masterpiece, with its palpable twang and inimitable nuance, quickly became the stuff of legend.

Whether youre wielding one yourself or thrilling to a classic recording, the magical warbling instantly conjures visions of back alley brawls in Brixton, spaghetti Western gunfights in a sun-drenched desert, or fist-pumping crowds singing odes to rocking the free world.

How It Works
The Gamechanger BIGSBY combines golden-age rock n roll mechanics with state-of-the-art signal processing. On the outside, an original-style activator bar (modified to withstand years of foot stomping) is paired with a carefully selected spring that yields the same cushy feel and unique bounce of hand-activated modelsbecause thats integral to the feel of all the best traditional tremolo systems.

On the inside, a powerful SHARC processor chip, found in high end multi-FX processors, samples your signal and processed it with a fully polyphonic pitch-shifting algorithm, controlled directly by the pedal.

Inspired by The Past, Built for The Future
  • Stellar build quality with metal foot pedal and smooth spring action
  • Frees your hands up for intricate patterns
  • Can produce string-bending combinations for lap-steel and slide-inspired guitar licks
  • Can be paired with other instruments and FX for unique, unheard sounds
Custom A/D and D/A Conversion
Gamechanger Audio developed their own hybrid algorithm that would not only achieve smooth, polyphonic real-time pitch-shifting in the lower harmonic intervals, typical of Bigsby-style vibratos, but also preserve the natural timbres and inherent tonal characteristics of the instruments plugged into it. They specifically worked to ensure it melds seamlessly with electric and acoustic guitar (standard 6-string, baritone, and bass), mandolins, banjos, and more.

Another key component of the BIGSBY pedals sound is its Detune parametera precision crafted algorithm designed to emulate the imperfections and dissonant properties of traditional mechanical string-bending hardware. This makes vibrato effects produced by the Bigsby pedal virtually indistinguishable from the real deal.

Extra Features
  • High-quality buffered bypass with seamless transition in and out of bypass
  • Auto mode lets LFO contol the pitch-bend rate and the foot pedal control the pitch-bend depth
  • 12-semitone pitch range up or down, with each range separately adjustable
  • 10 user preset slots via MIDI PC
  • Knob Lock option prevents accidental parameter adjustment during performance
