Schoeps DESERT ISLAND SET MK 2H Overview
The matte-gray Schoeps Desert Island Stereo Set with MK 2H Capsules is a versatile microphone kit designed for capturing high-quality stereo recordings. It includes two CMC 1U miniature Colette microphone preamps, two MK 2H omnidirectional matched capsules (with their matching certificate), and two SG20 stand clamps, all packaged in an ultracompact Peli hard case for protection. The set is particularly useful for field-recording applications due to its portability and rugged build.
The MK 2H capsule's mild, high-frequency-response elevation above 6 kHz (at 0°) compensates for high-frequency losses caused by a slightly increased, diffuse field amount at medium recording distances. Often described as balanced and round, the MK 2H is ideal for A/B stereophony and Decca Tree-together with the optional KA 40 sphere accessory.
The matte gray Schoeps CMC 1 U is a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 U is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (all available separately).
It features a balanced XLR output, compliance with 12 or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. The CMC 1 U supports the high maximum SPLs tolerated by the various MK mic capsules (available separately).

The matte gray MK 2H Microphone Capsule from Schoeps comes as a matched pair, and can be used indoors at medium recording distances (i.e. where direct sound energy is similar in amount to reflected sound energy); its overall response will be linear. Its extended frequency response and low noise make it appropriate for demanding applications.
The sound inlet of this capsule is narrower than that of our other pressure transducers, causing a slight, purely acoustic response elevation above 6 kHz. This reduces the high frequency loss for diffuse sound, thus helping to preserve natural sound quality.
This capsule is suitable for natural-sounding pickup of instruments and orchestras in spaces with well balanced reverberance.
The Schoeps SG20 Microphone Stand Adapter is designed to stand mount microphones measuring 20mm or 21mm in diameter. The SG20 features a strong metal housing and a durable plastic clamp. Its base is threaded for 5/8"-27 stands, and a threaded adapter is included to accommodate 3/8" and 1/2" mounting. The angle is continuously variable.
