The Story

Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 II Overview

The Trioplan 100 f2.8 II Lens from Meyer Optik Görlitz provides optimized mechanics, an improved optical design, and a lens coating that enables beautiful pictures for the Nikon Z. The minimum object distance has been reduced to 3'. This lens is known for its distinctive soap bubble bokeh, which offers photographers the opportunity to rediscover the artistic soul of photography in times of point-and-shoot, Instagram snapshots, and pixel battles from major manufacturers. With the Trioplan 100 you can create unique images that stand out from the crowd.

Based on the classic Triplet design and an aperture consisting of 15 steel blades, the Trioplan 100 f2.8 II produces the famous soapbubble bokeh and a unique sharpness curve from the focused area to the background. The optimized construction now offers improved haptics, especially with regard to the aperture setting, as well as even better contrast and sharpness characteristics. The company's own glass lens production and the production of high-precision mechanical components through German partner companies ensure the best possible quality. The resulting noiseless focusing is particularly popular with videographers. In addition, the Trioplan 100 is manufactured for the most common mounts of modern cameras: Canon EF, Nikon F, Fuji X, Sony E, Pentax K, M42, Micro-Four-Thirds, Leica M and Leica L.
The Trioplan's strengths lie in nature and portrait photography. It offers balanced sharpness with a particularly attractive soap bubble bokeh, which is achieved at f2.8 especially in backlighting situations. The blur areas are also impressively painted with smaller f-numbers. If macro-rings are used, the Trioplan can achieve an image scale of up to 2:1 so that it can be used for artistic macro shots

It's an expensive lens for limited use, but if you like this kind of bubble effect on your photo, you probably will like it.

    Nice lens!

This reprint lens has some advantages over the original model. - Shortest shooting distance - No mount adapter required - Low lens distortion (personal impression) And, the bubble bokeh comes out firmly as well as the old one. I like it very much to exclude its price.

As good as expected. Outstanding bokeh.

Nice lens with nice bubble bokeh. Nice vintage effect. Creates a dreamy world or sceneray. You need to get used to the manual settings and handling (nowadays where everything is automatic) but it works quite fast. Delivery of was very fast even from the US to Switzerland. I can highly recommend the lens and as well .

    Love this lens

The lens is still subject to side light and flaring, but NOT direct on sun shots. I am waiting on the other Meyer Optik lenses to come out of production, but this lens better then my vintage version. I love it.
