Leitz Cine Thalia-T 90mm T2.2 (ft) Overview
The Leitz THALIA-T 90mm T2.2 PL Mount Cine Lens, with markings in feet, provides a dreamlike soft focus look on one end of the aperture and a high-contrast realistic look when stopped down. The lens is intentionally designed with under-corrected spherical aberrations to achieve a distinct bokeh. At the same time, a circular 15-blade iris ensures circular out-of-focus highlights that further enhance the bokeh. The aberration increases towards the periphery of the optical system, which is what enables precise control of the depth of field and the degree of diffusion by adjusting the aperture.
The THALIA-T 90mm features gear positions matched to the predecessor THALIA lineup for consistency with those lenses. The THALIA-T successfully incorporates characteristics from the popular Leica Thambar-M lenses to deliver an effective solution for cinema applications with up to 65mm sensors.
