It also excels in low light, making it useful for night photography. Light and portable at 5.9 oz, it has a 39mm filter thread for additional light-shaping capability. The lens design (6 elements in 5 groups with a special coating) reduces unwanted effects like ghosting and flare.
The quick and quiet autofocus is powered by an STM stepping motor and supports eye- and face-detection algorithms. The lens also features a de-clicked aperture ring for silent adjustments, benefitting video shooting, and a USB-C port for firmware upgrades.
